Sound Fighter® Systems, LLC offers a summer internship work program to high school and college students on occasion when production demands allow. Each year this program has proven to be a great success for the participants. Our hope for this program is to provide a learning experience for young adults between the ages of 17 and 25. This hands-on opportunity will help to prepare our interns for their future careers as it will teach them about all different aspects of business including: leadership, management, work ethic, workplace safety, human relations and specialized manufacturing skills. These interns work very closely with our top level management, supervisors and all the employees of the company.
The Sound Fighter® Internship Program runs for 10 consecutive weeks beginning right after school lets out for the summer. Interns spend around 35-38 hours each week working in a manufacturing plant environment gaining work ethic knowledge, job skills and simply learning how to work with other coworkers. Each week the interns spend several hours in a conference room setting discussing different aspects of business and how it plays a vital part in not only a manufacturing company, but in all businesses. Some of the discussion topics include things like management, accounting, sales, human resources, product development and engineering. The interns also learn information about the different careers in these areas and possible opportunities that may be available.
The program is especially beneficial to interns that are between their junior and senior years in high school as it opens their minds to possible career opportunities and gives them additional time to make critical decisions regarding their future. While all interns are encouraged to progress to higher educational institutions, some desire to go straight into the workforce. The program helps them evaluate those decisions and potentially steers them in the direction they would ultimately like to go. The program is geared to promote success and strive towards achievement.
The interns that have completed the program at Sound Fighters are all asked to give valuable feedback once they are finished. Some of the testimonials that we receive define the reason that we continue to offer and develop this internship program. Here are a few quotes from previous interns:
- “This business has taught me a lot of things that can be very helpful in the future. The most important thing I have learned from this internship is honesty. You will get nowhere in life being dishonest…… I have also learned a few things from the guys in the plant. Don’t leave your food on the table unattended.” Ethan Perot, Sound Fighter Past Intern
- “To the President of Sound Fighter Systems, L.L.C.: Mr. Patrick Harrison and all of his co workers, I would like to thank you for giving me the experience of a lifetime. Jobs like this responsibility and requirement are not typically accessible to teenagers. This job furthered my knowledge and understanding of discipline, hard work and responsibility….. Part of the learning process was working down on the floor directly with the sound barrier walls. Working on the assembly line and seeing other employees working on their jobs gave me a good idea of the amount of endeavor and will that is needed to complete jobs on time…… Another part of the learning process was going to the weekly business meetings. Each meeting, we got to sit down and discuss different areas of business that help the company to grow, expand, and be successful. Human Resources was my favorite.” Alex Brown, Sound Fighter past Intern
The Sound Fighter® Summer Internship Program continues to be probably the best way that our company can give something back to the community. It has tangible results and also inspires the management and staff of Sound Fighters to grow individually and as a company. It reminds us of the core principles of our values and promotes success and progress. The program gives us a huge sense of accomplishment each year while working with these youths. It is our goal to continue to promote this program in our community as much as we can.
