How Sound Barrier Panels Are Made
The proprietary Sound Fighter® LSE® Panel, developed exclusively by Sound Fighter® Engineers, is uniquely designed and crafted to provide the world’s most effective absorption technology.
The LSE® Panel is constructed from materials that are water-resistant, rust-proof, non-corrosive, and extremely durable in the harshest outdoor environments! Since there is absolutely NO metal contained within the panel, the product will hold up to environments containing high-moisture and corrosives, without the need for ongoing painting and maintenance.
For the LSE®’s exterior, Sound Fighter® utilizes a high-density, UV- and color-stabilized synthetic shell. Next, premium acoustic absorptive media is inserted to absorb unwanted noise by completely diffusing the sound waves. The LSE® Nosie Barrier Systems Panel also contains an acoustic sound board that eliminates noise from penetrating through it.
The finished LSE® Panels are independently self-draining and lock securely into place when stacked into the steel framework.
This combination of proprietary design and specially crafted materials makes the Sound Fighter® Absorptive Noise Barrier System one of the highest performing absorptive barrier walls in the world today. As a result, the LSE® System has been a proven success in applications around the world for over 40 years.
Engineering & Design
The LSE® Noise Barrier Concept
Recognizing the need for a high-performance sound barrier systems for their new Autobahn, German engineers designed the LSE® System with the sole objective of absorbing and eliminating the most common frequencies of unwanted sound. Everything – from the perforation density and shape, to the volume of the acoustical fill material inside the barrier – is precisely engineered to maximize the system’s attenuation performance. And it worked beautifully.
Thankfully, the physics of acoustics do not change with time, and the LSE®’s design remains the world’s preeminent absorptive noise barrier design some four decades later.
The LSE® System has been extensively engineered to accommodate a wide range of factors including wind-loads up to 130+ mph and barrier heights to 50 feet. When necessary, we can have the designs of our noise barriers certified and stamped in any State or location. And when our Customer’s have special or unique challenges on new or retrofit barriers, SFS can custom-engineer the LSE® System to accommodate their application. As a result, SFS has the capabilities to deliver an engineered LSE® System for nearly any application anywhere in the world.
SFS has an in-house design & drafting team that have designed LSE® noise barriers for some of the most unusual applications imaginable – from a retrofit barrier for an historic highway bridge to a lightweight rooftop enclosure for hvac equipment. The cumulative talent and experience of our design & drafting staff is unmatched in the outdoor barrier business.
As a courtesy to our Customers, we provide detailed layout drawings to them during the initial planning stage, giving them a much better feel and understanding of what they’re getting with our sound barrier systems.
Manufacturing & Assembly
Sound Fighter® Systems (SFS) is the sole manufacturer of the LSE® Absorptive Noise Barrier System. By maintaining control over the entire manufacturing process of our sound barrier walls, SFS ensures the highest levels of quality and consistency that are so crucial for proper attenuation performance and Customer satisfaction
Dedicated Injection Molding presses and experienced press operators produce the legendary LSE® HDPE sound panel shells. Detail is continuously scrutinized, and even the smallest defects are not tolerated.
UV Stabilization and Color Enhancement are critical to the LSE®’s longevity and appearance, and SFS uses the best available additives to ensure the LSE® panels will not fade, oxidize, craze, crack or peel – resulting in a noise barrier that will last decades in the harshest outdoor environments.
Steel Design and Fabrication
All of the engineered structural steel for the LSE® System is fabricated in-house at the SFS plant in Shreveport, LA. Each project is custom-made according to the customer’s specs and design. An experienced team of welders and fabricators carefully craft each component of the sound barrier walls’ framework, according to engineered specifications. Then, after all the steel has been fabricated, it is hot-dipped galvanized for long-term protection against the elements. The end result is a fully-engineered, well-made, durable and maintenance-free noise barrier that will serve our customers for decades.
Each LSE® absorptive sound panel is individually hand-assembled by the SFS team, further ensuring the highest level of quality and consistency. Panels are continuously inspected for proper sizing, content integrity and color consistency. Finished panels are carefully coded, stacked, palletized and shrink-wrapped in preparation for shipment to the Customer.
Packing & Shipping
Once the SFS staff reconfirms delivery location and times with the Customer, all of the steel, drawings, noise control materials, sound barrier walls, and LSE® components for a project are carefully loaded onto trucks and sent to the Customer.
